How I joined Mediavine in Less than 6 months: Approval & on-boarding

I started my blog on the 23rd of  June in 2019. Prior to this, I had no knowledge of blogging or how I would go about setting up a blog. At the time, my Pinterest account had over 1 million views, which was my first mistake. I waited too long.

Like most people, I relied heavily on platforms like YouTube for step by step instructions on how everything works. From hosting options to getting the right blog aesthetic down to the technical stuff.

After a whole day of watching as much material as I could absorb, I bought a hosting plan and a domain name. If you’re new to blogging, you probably aren’t looking to spend thousands of dollars on a hosting plan or domain name. This is exactly why I chose Namecheap.

Like their name suggests, Namecheap offers cheap and affordable hosting plans and domain names that are perfect for any beginner blogger. They also offer great discounts and coupon codes that help you with further reducing your total cost.

From $2 shared hosting plans to $8 domain names, you can start a blog with less than $10. I’ve been with Namecheap for a year plus and I can’t say enough great things about them.

In July, my blog was up and running and I was contented with the look and feel of the website. I went back on Pinterest and officially claimed my website. I gradually created blog posts that were in line with what people were loving on my Pinterest page and drove people back to my blog.

At the end of December, I had 8,000 sessions and over 10,000 page views. Throughout this period, I wasn’t keen on growing my blog. I wasn’t intentional with the kind of content I was posting, or how I was Search Engine Optimizing my pins ( Pinterest works like a Search Engine).

In January of this year, I sat down and wrote a vision board. I put joining Mediavine on my vision board and worked on my Pinterest strategy. 4 months into the year and I hit 100,000 plus page views.

In June, I hit the apply button on Mediavine and sent in my application.

Getting accepted into Mediavine and the On-boarding process

2 days after applying to join Mediavine, I got an email letting me know that my application had been received and they’ll need at least 3 weeks to do the necessary audits. True to their word, I heard back from them 3 weeks later.

Mediavine sent me an email informing that they thought my site would be a great fit but I needed to make a couple of tweaks. Key among the tweaks I needed to make was ensuring that my top 10 posts had long form content. Long form content falls anywhere from 300 words to 1000 words per blog post.

According to their explanation and requirements, long form content allows you to earn more money. Longer content also gives their clients sufficient space to have their ads displayed aka more money for everyone involved. If you’re looking to apply to Mediavine, note this part down.

After I had made the necessary changes, I sent them an email and got an email a day later letting me know that everything was looking great. About a week later, I got the official Mediavine acceptance email informing me that my application had been approved.

Shortly after receiving that email, I got an email with the contract that I needed to sign. I read through the terms of the contract and signed it. What followed next was the invitation to set up my Mediavine dashboard and ensuring that my privacy policy met their standards.

After everything was set on both ends, I got the green light from Mediavine, and the ads were launched on my website. Throughout the whole process from application to onboarding and launching, various Mediavine support members got in touch to ensure that I understood everything that was happening and I had no hiccups.

Mediavine, who are not just an ad network -but a full service ad management company- totally lived up to their hype.

A couple of weeks ago, Mediavine increased their session minimum requirements from 25,000 to 50,000. This is a hard number to hit, if you keep blogging blindly without any defined strategy in place.

In less than 5 months, I went from having 8,000 sessions to getting over 100,000 sessions through Pinterest. Pinterest is one of the most underutilized marketing channels and the quickest way to drive traffic to a new blog. Pin your Way to Conversions helped me triple my traffic five times over in less than 2 months.

Pin your Way to Conversions is a comprehensive Pinterest Growth & Marketing Blueprint that teaches you how to fast track your growth and conversion process to a destination off Pinterest with Zero ad spend. Click the image below to get 20% off and start boosting your blog’s numbers.

My experience with Mediavine so far has been nothing short of amazing. If you’re a blogger who has more than 50,000 sessions for a 30 day period, apply to join Mediavine today.

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this article, not having a blog/ somewhere to direct the traffic to as soon I created a Pinterest Business account was my first mistake. I would’ve probably had millions of people on my blog and made thousands of dollars from Mediavine already. If you have a Pinterest Business account and you don’t have a website, you’re missing out on a lot of traffic and leads. Avoid making the same mistake.
